How does one live a life based in humility and non self when we have a disease of self-centered fear? Give an example?

This one does it by being a member of NA, by going to meetings, working steps, working with a sponsor and sponsees, doing service work, learning the principles of NA and practicing them in all my affairs, being constantly reminded by all of that, that I have the disease of self-centered fear, and that, that disease tries to tell me I don’t have a disease.

Love,

Jon P.

I have come to believe that being of service to others has countered my selfishness to an extent, not eliminated it. Looking for and following direction has been an expression of humility on my part. A recent example would be when one of my regular visits to the gym was side lined when an addict called out of the blue and wanted to get to a meeting to pick up a key tag. I hesitated for a hot second out of selfishness but have learned that I get more than I need and if I take others needs in to consideration and when being of service I get more than I ever thought possible.
Have a good day,
Rick C.
