See the attached screenshot: the volume tool in the applet is either broken or not implemented in qmpdclient in Ubuntu’s repositories, version 1.2.2-2 for i386, under Ubuntu 13.04.

Can't reproduce it with git version on Debian, it probably should be reported
to Ubuntu instead.
