Hello all,

I am wondering how to set my qlab system up for a microphone cue. I dont need any effects within qlab for the cue, just and on and off (and maybe a volume I can pre-set)

I have 2 mixers (Berhinger X2442 USB, and another small one) and 2 microphones to wire up. I have seen that you need to have the same input and output for the specific mic cue to work in qlab? How would I set my kit up to do that, or is it not possible with what I have?

What I was thinking of doing was running an app called LineIn, and when i wanted a mic cue, i would run an apple script to activate LineIn. This app basically sends the audio input directly through to the output - so i would have the X2442 with a mic plugged in going to the line in on my mac, then a cable going from the line out to the other mixer and into an amp. Would this work?

Thank you for your help

A way to help test out your interface with the mic cue would be to ...
  • Connect your system (Microphone and USB)
  • Create a mic cue
  • Select your hardware
  • Hit GO on the cue, then select it again
  • Make sure you can make an Audio Cue send sound over Channel 1 of your device, that way we know any input that is working, will go to your output.
  • Travel through your cross points for Channel 1. Set Input 1 to 0. Test the mic. Move down the line to Input 2,3,4,N
I've used this method to find other non-obvious inputs from hardware such as the Effects Return.

That mixer has usb, can you use it as the sound card for the computer and then control the on/off through Qlab?
Of course then you'll add the computer latency to the mic sound.
