I have read with great interest the post on the "new" Auto Load check box but I still can't get my brain around it's function.

My understanding is that Qlab 3 is designed to Auto Load Automatically.

Checking the box does what then? Does it stop that from Auto Loading? It seems to force the cue to now Auto Load when some don't.

Unchecking the box restores the default function of Qlab which to Auto Load the cues.

When I check the Auto Load box on a Cue List what happens?

Does this apply this action to all the cues within that duelist?

What about groups same thing?

Just need a simple explanation so I can exploit this new feature.

I do have issues with midi notes stalling because they are not pre loading in time and think this may be the answer.

THANKS

Hi Mark,

A few thoughts:

If you're having issues with MIDI cues, it's not because of loading. MIDI cues are essentially instantaneous no matter whether they're loaded or not. Auto-loading or pre-loading a MIDI Cue is mostly cosmetic.

Version 3 was not originally designed to auto-load automatically. This was a significant difference from version 2.

When I say "auto-load", I mean "when you press GO to trigger a cue sequence, the next cue sequence is automatically pre-loaded".

In version 2 this always happened. Often it was good, sometimes it was very bad (if the cue sequences were very long).

Version 3 turned this behavior off, but that was not perfect either, because sometimes it is still important to pre-load cues.  This is often true with a sequence of video cues that take some time to load.

Thus, the auto-load parameter was added. It allows you to select on a cue-by-cue basis which cues will automatically load when you get to them as you go down the cue list.

Hope that helps,

Chris

That does help thanks. I think the delay is video and a QC render that is happening before it gets to the next midi note and the preload helps have that ready.

Can you answer this one…

When I check the Auto Load box on a entire Cue List what happens?

Does this apply this action to all the cues within that cuelist?
