Hello All,

I'm beating my head over this one. I'm running Qlab 3.0.8 on a mac mini,10.8 (no mavericks)

I have a combination of stereo and mono audio cues in my workspace. When playing the mono cues, they are only coming out of the left side. Shouldn't I be able to send my mono audio file to multiple outputs?

The only way I can see to do this is by changing the crosspoints, but even then I lose the functionality of adjusting the level per output and it applies itself to all of the cues.

What am I missing here? All I want it to take my mono audio and have the ability to send it to any speaker I want.

Thanks,
Corbin

You should update to 3.0.13. It's not related to this issue, but plenty of bugs have been fixed in the updates.

Use the crosspoints on the cue, rather than the device patch. Each cue's crosspoints matrix is underneath the level sliders.

And I just updated it to the newest version. No change.

Try this:

1. Click on a mono cue that you want to edit.

2. Select the "Device & Levels" tab of the inspector.

3. Each column in that matrix represents an output, each row represents a channel in your sound file. To send your mono sound to the first two outputs, for example, you want to dial up the crosspoints in both columns 1 and 2. You can set them to different levels and therefore have independent control of the sound per output.

Does this make sense?

Cheerio

Hi, I'm a bit of a noob here and am having the same silly issue, but your description to "dial up the crosspoints in both columns 1 and 2" and  "set them to different levels and therefore have independent control of the sound per output" is just eluding me. Can you offer a more step-by-step description? Because no matter what I try, I can only seem to get mono files to play out of the left channel (channel 1.)

Thanks in advance!!

This page from QLab's documentation should be helpful:

Thank you! I made it work. I can't say I understand why, but I made it work. Simply putting any values onto the input and cross point fields brought audio to channels 1 and 2. I guess I just don't understand why this only has to be done with mono files. Shouldn't they automatically be turned on to some value?

A mono file has one channel of audio, so by default it's assigned to one channel of output. When you assign it to a second channel, audio goes there as well. Crosspoints allow you to send any audio channel from your file to any channel of your audio interface. As such, they make no assumptions about your intentions for the routing of your cue, and simply send 1-to-1 until you make changes to the routing.
