Hello everybody !

I would like to know if some osc messages can control the levels in the Device Routing ?

For now, I can control the cues levels, but for some specific work I would like to be able to control directly the device output levels...

I can't find this in the OSC dictionary.

Thank you.

No you can’t. If you describe what you are wanting to do in more detail, there may be an alternative solution.

OK You already gave me the alternative solution for controlling audio cues levels thru osc, which is correct.

I was just hoping not to rebuild all the show to group and rename audio cues.
The show has a 16 audio output routing by DANTE and I was mixing live with a Yamaha CL5.

I try to adapt this to a Stereo only output, For a gig with no Dante or other multi output patch solution. It would have been very easy to just control the output patch levels with osculator instead of renaming/grouping/reassigning all the Audio cues in the show... I was just a bit lazy...

So let's go for rewriting my show, and since the last time I understood many things in programming Qlab, so the new show will be surely smarter !

Thank You mic pool for your reactivity.

I promised you an alternative solution! If you tell me how you were intending to send the OSC which controlled the matrix levels I can probably suggest 2 solutions  which will allow you  to replace your mixer with something running on the same computer as QLab.

thanks !

For now I was thinking mixing with a korg nanokontrol via Osculator.

Good, That's very straightforward then. The only problem is that you have to have a paid version of Plogue Bidule for 95 bucks

So I'm assuming that:
Your current show has all cue outputs routed 1 to 1 to your mixer and that you are doing live mixing using the faders on your external mixer

You want a simplified version of the show that runs in stereo but still want to mix on faders

You are going to use MIDI output from a Korg Nano control for the faders.

In this demo workspace I don't have access to a Korg so I am using Akai LPD8

I have a 4 channel multitrack wav looping in QLab  which just has spoken idents for each track.

The first thing we need to do is route all the 4 cue outputs to our stereo outputs using the device routing matrix. You can also pan the cue outputs to stereo here as well as below

We then insert an AU Bidule plugin on each of the 4 cue outputs which just have a simple gain block with an amplitude parameter.

On the first Bidule we also put in a MIDI device input for the LPD8.

We can then patch CC outputs 1-4 from the LPD8 to the  gain amplitude parameter in the 4 instances of Bidule plugins. The parameter page is common to all instances of Bidule plugins in the workspace.

And finally  I have put a 2 ch bidule across the stereo device output as a master level control.

Each cue output is now controlled by an LPD8 knob as in the attached iPhone video

I said I had 2 methods, and here is the 2nd one, but this will cost you 600 bucks.

It uses Source Elements Nexus as the QLab output device which feeds into Nexus routing plugins inserted on a Harrison 32C Mixing console (software emulation running on the same Mac). This puts a fully featured   Analog style console between the outputs of your QLab and your audio output device.

You can even use your nano controller to MIDI bind to the onscreen controls, and as a plus this has proper remote takeover of controls. i.e the MIDI control has to match the setting of the onscreen item it is controlling in order to take it over smoothly, No immediate jump as soon as you move the controller!

Here's a little 4/2  console (You could have 64 outputs from QLab into the mixer plus Microphones etc, 12 stereo busses and a Master Stereo Bus, 10 VCAs etc.and it has a full DAW attached so you can record everything as well, and automation, MIDI and OSC control which means you can control the console from QLab itself.) for the 4 channel example
