I have 2 USB webcams that I am using as mics for Zoom. I have them as a aggregate device via AUDIO/MIDI setup and they show up in Zoom and work automatically.
Since these 2 USB devices now show up in QLab as video cameras, I figured I might as well use them as extra camera angles I can access using OBS, Syphon and a iPad running QLab Remote app. It works great and is very helpful.
My issue is, every time I unplug them or restart the Mac the cameras come up as missing devices and won't work until I go back into Video - Camera Settings and rematch them. They show up as with names "USB Device 1" and "USB device 2" the first time and "USB Device 3" and "USB device 4" the next time. No rhyme or reason to their names that I can tell. I know this is a issue with the USB device maker and drivers.
So is there a way to create helpful names and lock in these names with their device.
I read this
article. But it seems to refer to output devices only.
It is not hard to go in to settings every time, I open the file and re-patch them, but I have to guess each time which is which and it adds a layer of complexity that my "client" (wife ;-) would find annoying.
