When I delete a patched lighting instrument from the Patch tab, it breaks all light cues that accessed it. How to fix those errors without having to add it back into the patch even if it no longer exists at my current venue?

A Light cue which contains commands that point to lights that don’t exist will be broken.

You can either add the light back into your patch or delete the commands from your cues.

In your case, it seems easiest to not delete the light from the patch in the first place. If the light doesn’t exist in reality, there’s no reason to have to nix it from the patch, right?

My patch gets very big with extra stuff I am never gonna use again.

I don’t see a way to "delete the commands from your cues”? How would I do that if I have already removed it from the patch?

I'm guessing I have to patch it again then remove it from each cue?

I encourage you to re-write your show to use exclusively light groups in cues. Then, at each venue, create or delete whatever lights you need, and put them into the appropriate groups.

This way your cues are semantically separated from the particulars of each venue.

I don’t see a way to "delete the commands from your cues”? How would I do that if I have already removed it from the patch?

Select a Light cue, go to the Levels tab, view as text, and you can edit levels even for deleted lights.

Best

hello

I had the same issue before. Thanks to Sam I now know that I can simply correct it in the Light Cue in Text View.

That being said, it would be nice to have an option to delete all occurrence of a light instrument when deleting it from the patch.

And a hint that the broken light cue can be edited only in the text mode. When in slider view, we don’t see it at all.

Cheers,

aroom

I second that request. The cool thing about grouping instruments and linking your light cues to the groups is that anything deleted from the patch that was in that group doesn’t create an ERROR when that instrument is deleted.
