Hi guys,
In the past week I used Reaper to edit a 4 ch recording made on ZOOM4.
Everything worked well. But I tried to load audios (wav and aiff) into QLab. But it was unsuccessful. I have used on QLab 5 demo workspace. I checked it on QLab 4. But nothing. I made some conversion to m4a, mp3 audio.  Nothing nothing.
The most important thing to say I worked on Ventura.  I tore my hair! What is the problem but I don't have any solution.
I switched on my old MacBook air that was running Monterey.
I have transfered the wav files to my old machine.
Everything worked succesfully.
When I bought the new Air, Monterey Os was installed.
I made a wretched system update to Ventura. I'm really sorry!
I think Rosetta it runs under Ventura on my new Macbook Air.
I have been reading articles to solve the problem unsaccessfully so far.
Is the solution is to downgrade to Montery?
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Best,
Kalman

It’s  not clear from your description if you are saying that the wav  files play in QLab5 but not in QLab4, or won’t play in either.

Do your wav and aiff files open in Quicktime player? Right click on file.

Hi Mic,
I forgot to mention this is a MAcBook Air 2020 M1 machine.

Not in any Qlab version when I am using the new Ventura machine.
Yes I tried to load into Ventura's QuickTime player, but NOTHING. None of the files will open.
On old Monterey the is no any problem.
I think it might be an OS issue. ???

Can the above info help you to suggest any solution?

Can you make a 3 second file from your reaper project, that won’t play in Ventura,  and post it here.?

I enclose the Reaper I enclose the Reaper Render window, you can watch the setup. And here is the 3 sec wav file you need. I have to say the Reaper setup is the same on both OS.

Mic,

I am thinking the next, maybe the Ventura Os and Reaper rendered files are not friends.
Because the old wavs and any other audio formats load into Qlab versions.

What do you think?

On my Ventura 13.2.1 on intel your file opens without problems with all apps, , but if you open the file with TextEdit you will see that it does not have a correctly formatted wav header (the header does not contain the strings 'WAVEfmt' or 'data'

So definitely not a QLab problem. There seem to be 2 possible problems contributing to your difficulties.

Reaper on your platform is producing files with malformed headers (when I pre-render your file in my Reaper I get a full Wav header.)

Possibly, something has changed in OS 13.3 (or OS13.3 Apple Silicon) which insists that only wav files with completely valid headers will open. (Most apps and OS just ignore missing header blocks  in simple audio files like wav and aiff and play the file)

Your best course of action would be to take this up with Cockos.

You should also be able to open the dodgy files in Quicktime player on a Mac running an older OS, trim a couple of ms off using the trim and then resave. They should  then have a valid header and should  be usable on your Ventura system

Hi Mic,
at first:
As always you guide me towards a good solution.
I transfered audios - rendered in Monterey Reaper - to my Ventura machine. Theye are loaded to Qlab,, QuickTime etc without any problem. You're right, it's not a QLab issue. I checked the audio header too. The wav file rendered on Ventura Reaper it doesn't even open in TextEdit app. Nothing happens.
The fast and short solution is the next. I render files on Monterey Reaper and I have to use them on othoer MACOS machines.

secondly:
I'm facing the Reaper forum. Trying to seek solution to this issue. (Ventura 13.3.1 versus Reaper v6.79)

Thank you Mic for the great advices.

Sincerely,
Kalman
