Hi all,

is there a way to make a cue (in a cue list) change the midi assignment for instance for a foot controller? As an example, I use a pedal to control a cue cart for muting and unmuting a microphone, but at a particular spot in the show I would like the same foot controller to trigger some lighting effects or something completely different. Is that possible+

Easiest to be to use the pedal to target a group, and arm/disarm start cues in the group depending what you want them to do

Sorry I misread you question. you want to change the MIDI configuration of a foot switch you are using, so it can have different functions in different parts of the show. [not change the midi triggers of a cue].
That really depends on the foot switch concerned and how it is configured; you want to check the manual for the foot switch you are using; it is likely configured using a manfuacturer specific  app via USB or MIDI or some cheap foot switches  may not be configurable at all.
Within Qlab you could use Rich's approach above with the MIDI trigger on a group, containing the two cues you want to control (mic mute, light control) and at some point in the cue list you enable one and disable the other.
Preferable would be to use a footswitch with more than one button, which would eleminate any confusion by having a button for each function. for example Blackstar Live Logic MIDI Controller

Thanks for the clarification! Yes, Rich's suggestion is what I think I will explore going forward.

However, this does not solve another problem I am striving to solve: when using a Korg NanoKontrol for controlling lighting parameters through MIDI, I would like to assign a toggle switch on the controller to change the target for any of the sliders, so i can control more parameters on the same hardware.

Thank you for the answer, it is a very simple and functional way of doing it. I think I will use that going forward.

However, this does not solve another problem I am striving to solve (but haven't come round to asking about): when using a Korg NanoKontrol for controlling lighting parameters through MIDI, I would like to assign a toggle switch on the controller to change the target for any of the sliders, so i can control more parameters on the same hardware. Would that be possible?

Sincerely, Øystein

Ok so that's a whole different question, does the Korg Nano Control support "banks" or pages and can they be changed via external program.  The website says its does but the manual makes no mention of MIDI commands to do this. Have you tried the Korg Control Editor software which is used to configure the device?  You probably have to switch banks through that.  Without documentation you might be able to "sniff" the MIDI commands from the Kong editor software and work out the commands needed to switch banks, which you could then program into Qlab or a foot switch. It would be a lot of work.
General advice with Qlab lighting it's ok for just a few channels/simple RGB  fixtures.  Use the mouse to program light cues in to Dashboard. Once the show is plotted you can operate the show using the spacebar in the usual way.
You do not want to try "busking" lighting using Qlab - it is not designed for that! If you want more flexible lighting solution then your probably need an actual lighting desk.
