Hi to you out there
We recently got a new audioconsole a
Digidesign
Sc48. While testing the consoles firewire connections I recognized
that the Venue does appear in the Audio-Midi connection menue. So I
started Qlab an could get the console working with it. The Firewire
connectors are normaly used for a Protools system described here:
Seamless Pro Tools Integration
SC48 features a built-in Pro Tools LE FireWire interface, making it
easy to connect a computer (sold separately) running Pro Tools LE
software (included with SC48) to record and archive live performances
or for audio playback. With VENUE and Pro Tools®, you can also perform
Virtual Soundcheck — a timesaving process that lets you play tracks
recorded from a previous live performance, and fine-tune your mix
settings before an actual show or rehearsal without requiring the band
or performers to be there.
The console is defintly the easiest way to get a high quality Qlab
environment working as you need only a MacLaptop and the console and
you can control 18 mono channels.
If someone is interested download the
Venue
standalone software for the SC48 unfortunatly only running under
windows. In the patchbay you can define the Qlab (protools) input and
you are fine. Especially if you know the software provided by Yamaha
the import and export features of shows and the so called snapshots are
impressing. (in the manual chapter 21 page 167 ) The above standalone
software provides full functionality except the plugin section. This
allows to prebuild a complete setup without the console and to have
time for other things.
As a continous reader of this mailing list this information is not for
too many useful but perhaps due to the sucsess the Sc48 has this
console will be soon found at a lot of more places and make us all
happy that we do not have to carry a interface with us.
Feel free to ask if someone needs more information.
Tested under 10.5.8 and the latest qlab Version and the Digidesign
Protools LE 8.03 (as the Digidesign CoreAudio driver is used)
with best greetings
Peter
