Hey Mic,

Thanks for sharing this. Great, as always! I was curious about workflow when using QLab and MadMapper. I'm playing around with the demo and it seems that it's either QLab or MadMapper as your video output. Is that correct? I was interested in the possibility of having some surfaces mapped through MadMapper and others through QLab, if possible?

Thanks,
Jeromy

MadMapper will take over  any displays it is assigned to use in full screen mode.

You can use some displays with MM and some others with QLab

You can use applescript to send the key commands to MM to open and close full screen, thus releasing a display for use with QLab

If you enable syphon outputs in MM preferences you can syphon back in to QLab using a camera cue which you can assign to any surface . There is virtually no latency doing this.

You can also set up multiple syphon surfaces in QLab and combine these on a display using MM, using geometry and blending modes etc. There is also an extensive OSC implementation in MM so you can do some complex things with the surfaces by sending OSC messages to MM from QLab.

You can either have MM drive that display directly or bring it back in to QLab as an input to a camera cue.

Hope that answers your question.

Thanks Mic! That's a lot of solid information. One last question- does MadMapper place a limit on Syphon inputs? It seems like I'm limited to 6 inputs, but I wasn't sure if that was something I was doing wrong

All the best,
Jeromy

Don't think there is a limit

I'm using MadMapper 2 and every syphon surface I create in QLab pops up immediately in MadMapper. I just tried 20 and they worked

Thanks Mic! There was some strange latency between Syphon Surfaces being created in QLab and them appearing on MadMapper. I tried again today with my full version, and they worked fine. Looking forward to using the two applications together!

I've found that sometimes you need to save, then restart QLab for the surfaces to accurately post to MadMapper.
