Hi
Does anyone at Figure 53 know if there are plans for QLab to support Open Media Transport? Is there any idea of timescale for OMT support? Would it work like another video route output (like NDI) or something else?
Thanks
Paul

Hey there Paul,

We only learned about OMT about 3 days ago, so I don’t have much I can say about it, but we’ve added it to our issue tracker and I added your interest about it

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks Chris, yes OMT is pretty new, only first release in August last year. It may not be something relevant to QLab - depends a lot on take up from projector and camera manufacturers; no point having a communications channel with nothing to communicate with!
For those not familiar,  here is a useful video if slightly slow paced giving some technical and business background on OMT.

OMT currently only uses the (vMix) VMX codec which makes it more bandwidth hungry than NDI but it does have quality options and can in principle use other codecs [let's just hope we don't have a mis-mash of different take up].

Wait and see what happens over next year or so, I guess.
