Hi all

ive been running a qlab set up using an aggregate device (MH2882 and
soundflower) to allow me to send some audio
through to secondary processing software before playing out through 8
speakers.

My processing software works best with a constant sample rate so I
amke sure that all material is one rate but I find that Qlab crashes
if I have to change the sample rate when loading so I have to
remember to change the correct rate before loading qlab - is this the
way it is so that qlab can play all sorts of multiple rates and
therefore has no sample rate selection of its own?

Would it also crash if I change the rate on an interface or maybe its
just an aggdevice issue and qlab just follows
or not the clock master in it.

Material preperation is done in logic or protools which communicates
with the agg device telling it to be 44 or 48k.
Ive found the way to work with aggdevices using soundflower is to
have soundflower as clock master which is communicated
by the sequencer

I did run one show using this without trouble 12 times earlier this
month and only came across this because of a new
set of material provided at a different sample rate so as I change
between the two this came up.

ps - with google groups I have to use my googlemail address to send
mail is this to be expected - I also dont get a
copy of my own post and cant see any prefs for that in google groups

You have to sign up via email rather than the Google Web UI in order to
use a non-google address it seems.

This has something to do with a particular kind of aggregate device being present. It's a relatively common issue but I haven't been able to get the darn thing to crash on my machine. It may have to do with an aggregate created automatically by a 3rd party application.

Generally, you should be able to change sample rates with QLab open and it won't be a problem. Unless you have this mysterious aggregate scenario that I can't figure out.

QLab will match the sample rate to the selected audio device.

i.e. Each file is converted in real time to match the sample rate of whatever device it is assigned to.

Thanks Chris

I am using a bunch of self created aggregatedevices to allow me to
use soundflower along with individual devices -
to make them stable while creating the audio in Logic/Reaper Ive
found having Soundflower as master clock is most
stable when passing some audio through a maxmsp 3d sound
manipulation program.
I'll try and change clock master next time im working within qlab
through the aggregate and let you know if that removes crashing -

its not a big issue as once in qlab I make sure all audio is one
sample rate to keep qlab overheads down and qlab is stable once im up
and rolling
