Hello
Thanks for putting the light control features into Qlab4

I have two questions regarding the Enttec DMX USB Pro Mk11 if anyone can help!

( I know this is USB to DMX device, not ArtNet / Ethernet, but it does show on the compatibility list, and there's a lot of us out here with them! )

1. Can anyone confirm that they have a working setup using this interface on Mac OS Sierra? - just so I know it's possible?

2. Has anyone had 'no connection' errors' with this device and did you manage to fix it?

So, I have tested the unit and it runs fine on the same laptop using the Enttec configuration program and also using QLC+.
- so I'm happy that all the hardware/cabling is good and that the OS is capable of talking to it.
I also know that Qlab seems to want it installed as a network interface - in network settings it shows as 'not configured' -  is there any special configuration settings I need to update? or does Qlab try to configure it?

Thanks for any suggestions

Phil

Hi Phil,

I admit that the current implementation of this is misleading. We have adjustments planned to make this clearer. In the meantime, thanks for asking!

To use this interface, go into the Workspace Settings Window -> Light -> Patch. When editing your instruments, the "Device" setting should be set to "USB". Then, your device should be listed there below in a dropdown menu for you to select.

Please let us know if this works for you.

Chris

FWIW: QLab doesn't hide USB devices from the Network Interface list when selecting an ArtNet box, but it will in the future. macOS considers many USB DMX boxes to be network interfaces because they operate as serial devices, so they could very well be modems, as far as macOS is concerned.

Ahh! - thanks It Works! - The trick is to leave the preferences setting on 'Automatic'

I see whats happening - by selecting the Enttec device in the Qlab Preference page, it makes it appear that this is always an ArtNet device rather than a USB interface
The confusion is because it this 'pretend artnet' interface which is presented in the Patch page (regardless of whether the patch device type is selected as USB or Artnet)

Thanks again for the quick response

Kindest Regards
Phil
