HI everybody,
I would like to trigger an ADB Freedom with Qlab to synchronise sound cue and light cue.
I know me can use UDP with the ADB Freedom but i don't know how. I don't know what to write.
Does anyone know? Maybe it will be easier with OSC or Mid.

THank you for you help.

Assuming this is the manual, p310 implies that you can use any raw UDP string you like to trigger an Event. So you could send “go” to trigger a GO Event if you set that Event to listen for “go”. You just need to match up the IP address with that of your QLab machine, pick a port to send on and set it the same on both devices, and then create a Network Cue with “type" UDP Message.

That’s the theory; no way of testing it. The ADB Freedom doesn’t seem to support OSC, and MIDI would follow essentially the same procedure: choose a MIDI command, have QLab send it, have the ADB Freedom listen in the right place for it and create an Event to be triggered by it to do something.

Thank you Rich. So, I just have to write "go" and if the IP adress are goods it will be ok?

Er, no.

You need to match up IP address & port, but more importantly create an Event that will be triggered by UDP and itself cause an action on the ADB Freedom. There are no direct triggers built in: you need to create Events for each action you want to trigger, and choose strings to trigger each Event.

Perhaps try reading the manual again more carefully?

My understanding is that the settings you show will send a raw UDP string – although you need to change the destination patch.

I don’t know what you mean by the “good” port. You need to pick a port that isn’t being used for something else, maybe 53002. Send from QLab on that port, and listen on the ADB Freedom on that port.

I use the port 53000 on QLab and the same port on ADB Freedom. What i don't understand is what is a "raw UDP String"?
Thanks a lot.

I haven’t invested any time in understanding it fully, but I believe that OSC messages are encapsulated in some sort of wrapper that identifies them as OSC, whilst the raw UDP string type sends literally just the raw string you type in – and this is what the ADB Freedom is listening for. I question the wisdom of using the same port as QLab is using for actual OSC messages, but I’m not sure why.

Thank you for the time you spend on my problem. I solve it into the Freedom configuration.
Thanks
