Hi everyone,

We've updated QLab Remote to add support for iPhone and iPod touch. We've also updated it for iOS 7.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/qlab-remote/id642520727?mt=8

Have fun!

Chris

Folks, it looks like something's going wrong with the App Store, and it's not recognizing current installations of QLab Remote on iPads, and is charging for a new download of it on iPhones and iPods. We're trying to figure out what's happening, and we'll let you know when we know what went wrong.

Okay, it looks like what happens is this:

Let's say you already bought QLab Remote on your iPad.

Now you're looking at the App Store listing on your phone.

Even though you already own it, the App Store says "buy now".

But if you click "Buy", the App Store will say "Oops, you already own this, click OK to download it for free".

Great usability, Apple!

Sorry for any confusion on that.

Best,
Chris

I think it's great that you support iPhone now. I just tried it on the iPhone and right now i don't think i will use it very often because it lacks two deal breakers features.
1 - Changing levels. Thats my main reason to use a remote (on iPad or iPhone) instead of my MacBook Pro : setting levels from within the audience place. Any other settings i can do it on the Mac. So, please, implement that.
2. The play button inside the edit page. If i want to set the level of a short sound. i need to play it, set a level, play it again, adjust level, play it again, etc. So the play button should really be in the edit page or it is pretty unusable.
Of course, that's my opinion and my use but i really think i'm not the only one using it that way.
Thank you for the great work. I'm using Qlab intensively for 2 weeks in rehearsals. Not a single crash. I still really miss the resizable notes window though. Like REEEAAAAALLLY miss it. Any chance it will come back?

Does it say oops before or after you enter your Apple ID password? I clicked buy and it asked for the password, and I canceled not wanting to take a chance on being charged again.

It says it is free AFTER you enter your password!

I believe it's after.

The only way that we could charge you again is if we made a completely new app, and this isn't one, so that's the underlying reason to know it's a free upgrade.

Confirmed... I just went through the process and _after_ I entered my password I got a dialogue saying "This update is free." My account balance didn't change.

You have to enter your password because that’s the only way you can gain access to your store account, presumably. Once you’re logged in, it then sees that you’ve previously paid for the app and does the free download. This was pretty common when reinstalling apps with in-app purchases, in the dark days before people started adding “restore purchases” buttons.

Must be the change from iPad-only to universal that confused things. Maybe it can only update your entitled application list while you’re already logged in to the store?

Or maybe they just didn’t account for the “added value” of an app being changed to universal. I don’t recall that happening too often with any of my other apps. So thanks for that one, Chris!

I actually updated the app on my computer, and once that was done, my phone recognized it as a universal app and allowed me to transfer it over to the phone without going through the App Store. I guess that only applies to people like me who still sync their phones though their computers though. In case that's helpful to anyone.
