Hi All,

Can anyone help me set up a focusrite scarlett 6i6?
I'm only getting outputs 1 and 2 into amp and speakers.

I'm just trying to get 4 separate outputs out of the 'line outs' of the interface.
I have a qlab workspace, that is from a template that I usually use with all my shows and bigger sound cards and I don't usually change anything.
I've got the interface selected in the audio output patch, and each channel 'meters' in qlab (I can see green signal)

I have four amp channels and four speakers. with all 4 in, 1 and 2 work fine.
The strange thing is that if I physically take out my outputs 1 and 2 from the interface, then put signal through 1 and 2 in the qlab cue, I hear signal through my speakers linked to outputs 3 and 4...
but nothing from qlab outputs 3 and 4.

I'm not sure what to alter in the focusrite software.
If anyone wants to let me know what to do quite quickly, that would be extra good .. I'm in rehearsals! :-)

All the best,
Helen

Hey Helen
It's a while since I used it, but I'd agree that your problem lies in the MixControl software which should be running in the background for the Scarlett to work properly.  As I remember QLab's outputs are called DAW 1-4 in MixControl, but only Outputs 1 and 2 are routed by default, so you will need to set the routing screen accordingly.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqgxduXH6Yg may help!
cheers
Gareth

thanks gareth,
not having much luck im afraid - the video you linked has the mix control for the saffire and not the scarlett - for some reason the scarlett looks just the same but with much fewer options and no options at all for routing to the line outs.. I'm still stuck :-(

any further pointers much appreciated!
thanks,
Helen

Hi Helen - try this video on the 6i6 mix setup - particularly, look at about 5:10 in and then at around 10:00 or so.

From what I see there, you need to set up a separate mix tab and assign your channels going to 3 & 4 via that. So, the two routing assigns that show the left and right headphone symbol are actually going to the second headphone output and ganged to line 3 & 4 if I understand the video.

Thanks Dave,
I got there in the end with help from a friend- yes seems that solution is that routing to monitor 1 and 2 then headphones L and R is equivalent to line outputs 123 and 4. Seems like we've done it all on one mix tab though.
I was a bit stuck with poor WiFi unable to watch videos and follow up links. But all sorted now, phew!
Thanks,
Helen

From memory its wise to photo your setup as bigger Scarlets were prone to losing
thier settings on a reboot and saving the preset wasnt reliable. The drivers might have
improved now - 18months ago I remember that selecting the "mixing" preset created an
automatic daw ie qlab inputs to the same numbered outputs ie 1-4 - not what youd expect
as mixing would imply all inputs to stereo

best of luck

Thanks Mick,

I will do that. Yes, there is an option called something like 'DAW tracking' which automatically assigns Qlab outputs calling them DAW 1, DAW 2, DAW 3 etc to the outputs - but still really confusing when it states on the screen that output is e.g. a headphone L when you are looking for line out 3...
I'm hoping at least if someone else comes up against the same issue they can read this thread and get there a bit quicker than I did!
Cheers,
Helen
