I need to find a way to send RS232 commands from a cue in qlab ether directly or though some other soft/hardware.

Any thoughts????

Hi Morgan,

One easy way to send RS232 is using Script Cues and a third-party application called "Serial Bridge"

http://www.perceptiveautomation.com/serialbridge/index.html

Once Serial Bridge is set up to talk to your RS232 output, then sending messages to it from QLab is very simple.

You can see an example of this in the screenshot of the Script Cue in the documentation:

Best,
Chris

there are a few solutions for this.

SerialPortX - allows you to access serial ports from applescript

there is also Serial Bridge - which is marked towards home automation nerds, but works for us too.

dubpixel has an application written in Max/msp that takes a variety of messages (midi, artnet, OSC) from qlabs  and triggers a pre-entered ascii or hexidecimal string,  either locally thru the BSD port, via UDP, or TCP/IP.

*being able to have something that handles transmitting strings over UDP and TCP/P comes in handy, especially with newer devices we always find ourselves being asked to automate control over (Projectors, matrixes, cd/dvd decks, displays, etc...)

*in the long run, using midi as the input signal makes it a bit more straightforward to all users - lines of raw code can be intimidating to some operators.

but i hear the save function on it is currently broken....

Hello,
I have a booklet that explains how to program command RS232 and HTTP through scripts,
