I’m getting myself familiar with the Qlab>Syphon>Madmapper workflow and starting to think about how to make it work with two projectors (full HD). I want each projector to play different content cued up in Qlab and inputting into Madmapper via Syphon (Madmapper only accepts one Syphon stream, as far as I'm aware). This is my current thinking:

- I create one 3840x1080 surface (equivalent to two 1920x1080 surfaces side-by-side) in Qlab

- Then that surface is separated into two 1920x1080 screens, Projector Left and Projector Right.

- Then Content Left is assigned to screen Projector Left and Content Right is assigned to Projector Right and cued up to play simultaneously.

- Everything is outputted into one Syphon stream into Madmapper where I have greater control over the mapping.

From looking at this: http://destroythingsbeautiful.com/2012/03/18/sending-multiple-video-layers-from-vdmx-to-madmapper/ it looks like I might be on the right track, or at least a viable one.

Is there a more efficient way of doing things? I wouldn't be surprised if there was a more elegant, and obvious, way of achieving the same result but I am too inexperienced to know what it is! For example, is there a substitute to Madmapper that accepts more than one Syphon stream? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

A couple of weeks ago your assumptions would be correct, although strictly speaking it's not that QLab can only send 1 syphon output to MadMapper, but rather  Mad Mapper could only use 1 input at a time.

However….

MadMapper 2.0 is now available and this allows multiple inputs simultaneously. I've got it running with 6 Syphon inputs at the moment.

So you could use multiple syphon inputs. It really depends what you are wanting to achieve.

Other Features include

Fully 64bits application
Multiple Inputs
new Fast Playback Engine
3d Surfaces with realtime lighting and shadows
6 point automatic camera calibration
LED scanner
SVG import to animated lines
Redesigned user interface
Native HAP support on 10.10
Native support for Decklink BlackMagic capture cards
