Hello friends

As some of you may know, today is the first day of Apple’s annual developer conference, WWDC, which is the beginning of the summer season of beta releases.

That means that today is also the 2026 edition of my macOS beta warning email.

Please DO NOT install beta versions of macOS on computers that will be used for shows. Figure 53 does not get advanced access to macOS betas, and even if we did it’s a losing game of Whack-A-Mole trying to develop a show-critical program like QLab within the context of beta operating system releases.

We cannot provide our usual level of support for QLab when it’s used on a beta version of macOS.

Even when macOS 27 “Golden Gate” is released this autumn, we still do not recommend updating Macs that are used for shows. Our general advice is to wait until the “.1” release; macOS 27.1 in this case.

It is our intention for QLab 5 to be fully compatible with macOS 27 Golden Gate, but the details and timeline of that compatibility are impossible to predict. Please assume that QLab is not yet compatible until you hear otherwise from us.

Thank you!
Sam
