Is there a way to show elapsed time / time to go within a cue cart when using Qlab 4?

I realise that if I display Lists / Carts & Active Cues I can see this but it would be nice to see this when viewing only Carts.

QLab 4 is a fantastic product, thanks Figure 53!

Hi Jim,

Welcome to the list, and thanks for the kind words!

For elapsed/ remaining time on the cart, do you mean other than what is displayed on the cart button itself?

Best,
Chris

Ah, my problem!

Just checked it out. If I put the track directly into the cart, time is displayed just as I was looking for.

I, on the other hand had put the track into a group and set a “Start” control cue from the cart to the 'start all children simultaneously' group with a view to a future use where I would include a video as well as the audio track.

Sorry for time wasting.

I think you are on to something interesting here. QLab 4's cart functionality is great, but I would love to have a way to run the same cue stack as a cart and a list. The application is a live performance that is typically linear, but sometimes requires firing a cue out of order, then returning to the same position in the cue list. The iPad remote is a pretty useful interface to quickly trigger cart cues, while the Mac displays the linear cue list. The two methods I've tried (and their downsides) are:

Method 1: Copy and paste the cues from a list to a cart.
Downside: Need to update both the list and the cart with any changes

Method 2: The cart consists of start cues, triggering the cue list.
Downside: The cart doesn't display cue time remaining, and requires management if cue list order changes.

Perhaps someone else has a clever solution to this approach?

I don’t know if this would work in general, but instead of using a Start Cue use a Network Cue set to use an OSC message with a 1D fade – and then give it a duration (and nothing to fade).

I could probably write you a script to set the duration to match the target of the OSC command…

It was your Method 2 that I was aiming for.
I use QLab mainly in a concert type of environment were we put up a background screen and change it occasionally during the show. Each item in the show has a backing track that determines the duration of the item. We then add in a video clip or a picture or some title slides or some combination of these timed to points in the track.
Being able to see the time remaining would be nice but I can live without it.
QLab 4 with the addition of carts is perfect for my needs, this would just be a little refinement.
Thanks again Figure 53.
