Hey friends,

So, I apologize if this question has been asked before, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I have a show that's been remounted in a new theatre, and while I have all the audio files and the cue list, the show was not bundled, so the cuelist is currently looking for the old folder location for the audio, which no longer exists.

Is there an easy way to just reset the target folder for audio so that Qlab just looks there for all the files? Rather than having to manually re-link every file?

Thanks so much for your help

Most times you can just temporarily rename your disks and folders to replicate the original file path. Then bundle and return your disc names to normal

Ironic that this came up as I just wrote to Chris the other day and suggested that a search and replace function/tool for missing file references would be a good add to QLab so end users don’t have to play these games to move a show.

I'm surprised that this is an issue. I never bundle shows, and I never have a problem. Just make a folder for the show, and make sure all of the media files are in that folder somewhere. I organize mine in a particular way, but anything will work. When you move the project, just move the entire show folder. No problem.

QLab stores both absolute and relative references to the media file. So as long as the folder structure remains the same, there's no problem.

The only time I've ever had a problem was when an SM moved the QLab file out if Dropbox and onto their desktop, and resaved. That broke the relative links. All that was needed was to move it back into the Dropbox and resave it to reset the relative links.

Am I missing something?

Using the draggable start and end cursors has limited usability when accuracy of the marker drop seems to be plus or minus 10 seconds or so. Running out to an editor ( boy I sure miss Peak ) is time consuming PITA compared to zooming into to the waveform view and dragging the start marker to exactly where it's needed. A fade in option with a settable fade time would be a plus too.

Not everyone is as organized as you are Jeremy.  J  For example something that would break it, I just had a designer come in and use some of the needle drop on the record and surface noise samples (for a phonograph) that I had on the hard drive from the previous show that I had designed.  Both the show I designed and the guest designed show have to move to another theatre this summer.  If I hadn’t bundled those files would be missing because they just dragged them right out of my show folder and put them into their cue list.  And the only real season I knew about this is because he was kind enough to ask my permission before using them.

I know I have broken it in the past as well.  I don’t remember what I did now.  But I usually do what you mention and create a folder for the show I drop all of my audio into.  The issues I ran into in the past might have been back with QLab version 1 though as it’s been a while and until recently I’ve not been a regular user of QLab.

But I will check out your method and see if I can replicate any problems.

Thanks for advice,

Scroll wheel up/down (or trackpad equivalent) will zoom in and out on the QCart waveform

Planning on adding a bunch of features (including integrated fade curve) as soon as I'm not so focused on getting QLab out the door :)
