One of my assistants is using dropbox to share a session. She has to follow several steps of reassigning after having bundled that session and saved to drobbox. This was not an issue for her previously.  We were curious if one of the upgrades may have been an issue or if any one else has had issues. She tried posting this yesterday or the day before. Now she gets a message stating that the administrator has banned her from this group. All very odd.

Any thoughts?

we've had to do some reassigning (patch audio, video, midi) when moving a bundled workspace from one machine to the next -- i figured this had to do with differing set-up / configurations / hardware with each box.

i'd be more concerned if the bundled workspace doesn't work on the computer that created it -- after it's gone through dropbox -- ie try it on the same machine ?? is that already the problem ?? maybe we can get someone who knows to explain how a bundled workspace likes to behave ..

there were some updates and transitions with .. moving the qlab forum to google-groups, this might have interrupted your access. i am probably mistaken but i believe you'll just need to resubscribe to this version of the listserv.

Hi Jonathan. I heard from your assistant separately, and have responded to her and un-banned her from the group. I'm not sure how she got banned, but it was most likely a stray mouse click. I apologize for the inconvenience.

For the bundling issue:
Any time you move a workspace to a new computer, there's a good chance that things will need to be repatched in Workspace Preferences. Audio, Video and MIDI devices are assigned unique identifiers by the computer they're installed on, and QLab uses those id's to maintain your patches when the id's don't change. But when you move to a new computer, those id's could be different, in which case, QLab can't automatically patch to those devices. Is patching the only issue you're having?

Thanks for fixing my access, Dave!

After bundling a workspace to dropbox the patching is lost. When I re-
patch it on any device (including the tower that the session
originated from) I then need to save, quit, and re-open the session to
be able to hear audio. If I don't save, quit, and re-open then the
patch will take (no more red x's) but I can't hear any audio from my
cues.

Thoughts?

Thanks again!

Have you tried zipping the file before putting it in dropbox?

+1 on this. I have exactly the same behavior (need to save, quit, and
re-open the session to be able to hear audio).

And by the way, I don't used dropbox. Only an USB thumb drive.

did you first attach the device and then open qlab?
i've been using a dropbox for about a year now with qlab.
No troubles with devices and patching Qlab so far.
Can't remember if i had to make new patches after syncing from a
dropbox.

some other advice with dropbox
Be very careful and bring another copy first time after syncing.
One time i've had problems with damaged audiofiles after syncing.
My advice is to bundle locally and then copy the bundle to your
dropbox.
Opening the same Qlab file from a dropbox isn't smart.

Steven- I have not tried zipping the file, but haven't ever had an
issue up until this most recent Qlab download (v2.3.7 I believe it
is).

Tjarko- See above. I have bundled locally and then brought a copy to
dropbox. Have tried just bundling to dropbox. Have tried it a number
of different ways with no positive results.

Still wondering if it is a possible bug in the most recent update?

The most recent update had fairly limited changes, and nothing changed regarding saving or loading files, so I do not know of a way the recent update would have affected this behavior.

You can see the change log for 2.3.7:

Do you definitely have to reload the workspace to hear audio, as a number of use have run into a related issue?
