I'm on a MacBook Air M1 - it was working fine on the latest Sequoia version, but after the upgrade to Tahoe it just starts hammering the CPU (at around 90%) and is almost completely unresponsive, including an inability to open a file.

So yeah, don't update! I'm sure they will eventually get around to testing and making sure QLab works on Tahoe...

Hi Glenn,

QLab 4 is only compatible with MacOS 10.10 through macOS 14 (Sonoma).

To use a more recent operating system you’ll need to update to QLab 5.

While we don’t currently know of any major issues for QLab 5 on Tahoe (and included a few fixes specific to Tahoe in 5.5.6), we generally recommend waiting to update to a new version of macOS for several months after its initial release.

Best,
Chris

We have no plans to “kill” anything, but we aren’t making any updates to QLab 4 so we cannot guarantee anything about its compatibility in the future.

We might someday be faced with a choice for QLab 5 in which making it compatible with a new version of macOS would force us to remove compatibility with an older version of macOS. We have not been faced with that choice yet, and we may never be. But it is possible! If we are indeed forced into that position, we will be as communicative about it as we can be.

And of course, if a currently existing release works for you now, it will keep working as long as you don’t update your Mac.

thanks.  As you probably can guess our computers have to also do some work other than QLAB, so an OS upgrade may be
necessated by one those apps.
