I was given several Resolume DXV3 files that I need to play back in QLab.  Even after installing the codec, QLab doesn't play them.

Can anyone suggest the best way to transcode them to ProRes?

I can load them into Quicktime and save the converted file, but I'm not confident that the saved file type is optimal.

Installing DXV3 codec won't allow QLab to play them because:

Video cues require a target, which must be a file containing video. While QLab can play files in any format supported by AVFoundation, the following formats are recommended , listed in order of preference, for videos without transparency:
Prores 422 Proxy
Prores 422 LT
PhotoJPG
H.264

For videos with transparency, also referred to as alpha channel support, AVFoundation only supports ProRes 4444.

You were correct in assuming exporting out of QT Player would not give you an optimum codec. It will export to H264.

Compressor is probably your best (and possibly cheapest) option

I should also have said that DXV3 is not a format supported by AV Foundation.

Also when transcoding in Compressor  make sure the Add clean aperture checkbox in the encoder settings is unchecked. ProRes Settings templates in Compressor  have it checked by default

Or you can try Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate, which also does audio.

Compressor got the job done quickly and easily.  Thanks for recommendations.
