Hi guys,

Is there a way to send a MIDI or OSC cue from Qlab to a Yamaha M7CL console to advance a scene?
We are hoping to keep our sound op free to mix and not worry about advancing cues on the sound board. The M7 has User Defined Keys setup to advance a scene. I just need to figure out how to control that from a computer running QLab. Note: we will also be running sound and video playback via that same computer.

Thanks.

YES, you send it as Midi PROGRAM Change Q.

But because All Yamaha's have a Scene Memory 000, you have to send it -1.

As in, to recall scene 1, send MIDI PROGRAM CHANGE NUMBER 0

to recall scene 2, send MIDI PROGRAM CHANGE NUMBER 1 ETC ETC

Best of Luck, Vinny

Thank you for this! I figured there must be a way.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what hardware and cable runs to make this work? We are running off a Mac pro through a Motu ultralite.

MIDI-Out from the MotU to MIDI-In of the Yamaha.

Best used with MIDI-cables.

Thanks Mark. Didn't know if I should run direct via thunderbolt to an adapter or via Motu.

One last question: how do you activate things on the M7 end to understand the command from QLab?

You want to make sure that the console is receiving midi program change commands.

Go to setup, then midi, then midi setup. Make sure that Rx for program changes is turned on (white background, orange text).

Also in QLab make sure you've set your midi patch in the settings menu to the ultralite.
