Hello all,

I may have figured this out and in that case it's a forewarning for MBP unibody-users:

When in a show I have the brightness of my screen all the way down. I noticed however that some of my videos were so dark that they became invisble on the media projector.
Tingling with screen settings, projector settings and the brightness buttons all did not help. What seemed to help was this:

0. Be sure the 'automatic brightness' is off (I have this turned off in working conditions).
1. Put the brightness of the MBP all the way up.
2. Turn off the MBP.
3. Turn it back on again.
4. Attach the external screen (via the mini displayport).
5. Start QLab and presto! the video is full brightness.
6. Adjust brightness of the MBP screen before the show if necessary.

I wonder if anybody else noticed this and knows if this above workaround is in fact correct. It seems to work for me... I have a show with night cam action which is almost invisible when I do not follow these guidelines.

Cheers, Wilf

Holly Molly Wilf! I may be encountering the same issue. Our projectors got darker from one day to the next have stayed that way since. I'm gonna try this out tonight and it could help us out a LOT!

Hope it works. I will let you know.
Thank you so much for sharing this!

It's far too late to help this poster, but maybe this will help someone else. I had a similar issue with a much darker screen last night. I desperately hunted around for s fix, and finally found that the display's color profile had been changed to that of my projector, which darkened it considerably. I tried all the alternatives and found that VGA calibrated worked best for me. I guess the computer somehow switched profiles. This had never happened before. Now I know what to look for if this happens again.

I've also found that Adobe 1998 eeks a little more brightness out of things sometimes, though sometimes with the cost of making things feel a little cooler. This is probably most important with older projectors.
