to QLab

Here’s a matching QLab script and Google Spreadsheet for 14 different kinds of batch cue imports from csv files.

I put this together in some down time, and figured I would share.

The script reads the csv file directly, so no need to have a separate spreadsheet editor open.

Just download a csv, and run the script. The script will prompt you for which file.

The script detects which sheet is being used, so 1 script runs the 14 different kinds of csv files exported.

I tried to make a sheet/tab for anything that could/should be made in a batch. Some cues like OSC 1D fades, or linear timecode aren’t currently scriptable.

I put a detailed description in an “About” tab, so you can read more there.

But if anyone uses this with different versions of QLab or macOS, I’d love to know what works and what doesn’t.

Also, I’m curious for people’s feedback on what parameters deserve their own column vs a global setting in column A.

to QLab
Just finished a second version of this QLab Batch Cue Generator project. It now has 17 different kinds of batches it can run.

Improvements include:

-Uses tsv (tab separated values) to avoid issues when using a comma in a cell, but csv files still work fine when no commas are used.
-Easier way to enter time without dealing with Google's annoying time formatting. There's a column for minutes and seconds (and a hidden one for hours) so you can just hit tab to advance through them. Each column supports decimals.
-You can now select multiple files to easily process large batches.
-You can choose to create cues in "Cue List with Header" which will add a memo cue above the first created cue, using the text from cell A1. This helps label things if you have a lot of things being added to a single cue list.
-Added group cues
-Added "prompt for cue" which lets you just put in basic info and have a dialog pop up asking if you want any combination of start cues, load to time cues, memo cues, or slices.
-Added  "OSC & Start" from my own personal workflow. A little more user friendly for sharing with a stage manager or designer to have them fill it out. Creates OSC cues (building from an OSC Library tab) with a start cue to trigger each OSC cue (and the pre wait times applied to the start cues) to provide a master cue list or group that can be disarmed to act as a more targeted override control.
