I would like to know if there is a way to display the system time when in show mode. I did a quick search but could not find this in the group.
Very often during a show it is useful to know what the current time is but I can't seem to find a way to do this. Can it be done, and if not is it something that could be incorporated?

Regards,
Chris

Hi Mic,

Because the menu bar is hidden in full screen mode (Which is what I use when in show mode). Also the clock in the menu bar is pretty small and it would be quite nice to have a large time display showing at the top of QLab.

Ah full screen mode,, nothing to do with show mode beyond you switching to full screen when using show mode.

Why not use one of the clock apps that float in front.

UB Clock is quite good, but there are many others.

True I could do but I like have as few other programs running when I run QLab to prevent any performance issues. It strikes me that it would be relatively simple for QLab to have a clock which it updated every second, or even minute, as I don't really see the need for great accuracy here. Personally I find it useful for keeping FOH updated for things like intervals or for timing act1, 2 etc each night for log purposes.

You could send MTC on an IAC bus that matches the clock time and then open the Timecode window. As long as you don't straddle midnight that should work. You can use a Wall Clock Trigger to start the MTC.

Mic also has this: http://qlabcookbook.com/2010/01/06/real-time-clock/. You can make split screens to put video cues on the same display as the workspace, although I don't know how they fare with full screen mode.

I'll second Mic's suggestion of UB Clock. I use it all the time, floating in front of Qlab with never any problems.

My favourite way to time intervals and log times for each act is to use a Wait cue.  Give it a sufficient length to have more than you expect to need, and then by starting it and pausing it at the right points, you effectively have a show timer running in the background. With the 'Active Cues' window visible, you can have visual countdown timers and stopwatches playing alongside your cues.

I usually run a pre-show sequence of wait cues that start automatically from the clock time, giving me an accurate count down with indicators as to when to give the half hour call, 5 min call, etc. I'll follow on into an 'overtime' counter which pauses when I play the first cue (usually fading house music), so I know from that whether we started 3 min late, for instance.

At the end of the show when all the cues have played I have paused timers left open, showing the times of each act, the interval time, etc.

Cheers,
Craig

This is a really great idea.  I may have to start using this.

I was actually thinking earlier today it would be great to have the option of some type of “Mission Time” clock.  Some time you could reference other events off of.

For instance, most of my shows (and meetings) start at 7:00, so I’d have a master cue I have set for 7:00 (either wall clock or on a wait for go), then I can reference things at a negative time (Fire Announcement, switching video sources, other preset-things) and then once it goes, have it auto-trigger the events referenced off it in positive time, similar to what happens in rocket launches. With that change, when I need to change the start time of an event I only have to change a time in one spot, and everything follows.  Great for scripting.
