Hi there,

Anyone have a idea to display a live website in without using external input cards to capture the website or syphon ?. Must have a super stable solution without any additional computers as the system is running 24/7 without any crew in a permanent installation.

Kind regards

Hi Frank,

If you’re not using an external input of any kind, that means it would be built in to QLab; but QLab does not have a web view built in.

If you just want to display a web window somewhere (and don’t need to do fancy stuff like adjust the geometry or animate it) you could use scripting and a browser in kiosk mode.

Camtwist and a browser open on the QLab computer behind the QLab

It uses syphon, but i cant see why that should be more of a problem than anything else in a 24/7 situation.

Here's an example

The web page for the bus stop outside my office corner pinned onto a stock billboard image in QLab

It's also worth pointing out that if the website doesn't include live video feeds then a frame rate of 1fps in Camtwist cuts down the resource  requirement  considerably.

What about CefWithSyphon? It's a bare-bones web browser that outputs the screen over syphon. You can view the screen in QLab with a camera cue. https://github.com/vibber/CefWithSyphon

Thanks Alex

That's really useful and seems to work well

Cefwithsyphon is rad. But also it's somewhat unstable.

A perfect project for a young programmer to maybe dust off, update to the latest version of Chromium, etc... wouldn't you agree, Alex?
