Maybe the issue is my inexperience with QLab, but I need a function to start and stop video playback with a single button. In our show, we use the Apple Remote to advance from cue to cue.  We also need the ability to pause a cue to allow for live onstage action of variable duration, and then resume where we left off.

On my new Macbook Pro Retina with Mavericks, QLab 3 is working fine in all aspects except that the only PAUSE function that seems to be working is the bracket keys.  The P button seems to have no effect.

We need a single key to perform a PAUSE ALL followed by a RESUME ALL  -- in other words, a Pause Toggle.  Looks like keyboard shortcut P is supposed to do this, but it does nothing.  However, it also doesn't produce an error beep, so it seems this may be a Mavericks issue.

Any suggestions? Is it me, QLab, or Mavericks?

I'm on a deadline for a simple cue list for next weekend's shows, so any quick reply would be much appreciated.

All the best,

Sarah

The bracket keys work for Pause All and Resume All, being [ and ] respectively. There isn't a single button for both functions.

the only PAUSE function that seems to be working is the bracket keys.  The P button seems to have no effect.

The P keyboard shortcut will pause and resume the selected cue, but not the workspace as a whole.

How about this.

1. Make a second cue list.

2. First cue pauses the primary cue list; second cue plays the primary cue list, then autfollows to a GoTo cue targeting the first cue.

3. Set the Go trigger for this secondary cue list to a hotkey of your choice.

4. That key will not alternately pause and unpause your main cue list.

I meant, that key will now alternately pause and unpause your main cue list.

Thanks so much!  That should do it.

I don't quite understand what you are trying to do here.  You say that you are using the apple remote to advance from cue to cue by which I take  it to mean you have set it up to send a go to Qlab when you press a button on it

So a seq might be

Q1 Video 1
Q2 Crossfade to video 2
Q3 Crossfade to video 3

Now  for example between cues 2+3 you want to insert a pause and restart

So you would put in Q2.5 Pause Current Cue list (or just video Q2)
Q2.7 Play Current Cue List.

Then you are just using the go to step through you required sequence of cues with your go button and not having to worry about other keys. Or have I misunderstood?
