Hi all,

Is there any possibility to control/automate parameters of AU effects inserted on a cue output in the audio patch editor?

I understand I can put a plugin on a dedicated cue output routed to the same Device output as the dry signal or now as a dedicated mark in an Object Audio map to use as a dry/wet control, but it would be nice to change the parameters or presets of plugins.

Thanks, Bob

the problem is that there is no standard set of parameters for controlling plugins (I'm not aware of any that support OSC independently) and there are so many possible plugins that it wouldn't make sense to try and control them through Qlab. (they all have their own user interface in every DAW).
Generally I would have a processed and an unprocessed track in a multi-track WAV and then fade between them.
The way to do this, dynamically, (eg for an actor mic)  is to put the effect (reverb or whatever)  on the sound desk and then control the send amount in the desk from QLab.

Isn’t this really a question about the difference between a Fade Cue that targets a Cue – which includes a tab for controlling plug-in parameters – and those that target a Patch or an Object – which don’t? Would it be possible for the behaviour of the Fade Cue to be enhanced in the fullness of time to be consistent no matter what it’s targeting?

I believe so.

Possibly! It’s not without its challenges though; I’d love to know more about how folks might use such a feature.

Thank for the replies!

example 1: it would be nice to change snapshots in Audio Ease Altiverb and Speakerphone ( although I have some problems with the plugin window of Speakerphone in Qlab, but that's another issue).
I feel Altiverb works better on Cue Patch Outputs then on separate cues.

example 2: I'm now designing a show with a lot of pre recorded dialogues that all go into an Object map to position them on the same place as the actor they "correspond" to and at the same time I can wet/dry them in the object map using 3 fabfilter Saturn plugins on 3 extra cue outputs (3 extra amrks in the map). Left/Right axis determines position, up/down axis determines more or less fx in the corresponding speakers. Because I use this same map a lot, it is better for me to have 3 plugins on 3 cue outputs then 250 plugins on on cues itself. But now and then I feel I want to change the settings a little bit. For example 5 fade cues to 5 different settings would already be great.Screenshot 2025-10-23 at 19.21.14.png
