Hi there,

Be gentle - relative newbie :)

I'm working on a show where the output display we're working on changes relatively regularly.
Having set up another display, is there an easy way to update all my cues to point to the new video output, or do i need to update them individually?

(or indeed, am i thinking about this wrong...!)

many thanks,

-iain

Hi iain,

If you select all the cues you want to change (this can be done by selecting all cues, then in the inspector tabs under ‘basics’ there will be a drop down list saying ‘x’ selected cues. Select this and you will be able to select only one cue type - eg ‘select only video cues’ - just make sure you open all ‘group’ cues first using the command ‘shift’+’>’)

Once you have selected all the video cues you will be able to make changes in the inspector tabs and the changes will be shared amongst all cues.

I hope this helps!

Louis.

In QLab 5, you just change the device an output route sends to, in Settings/Video/Output Routing

This has 2 advantages

You don't have to edit all your cues.

If you use a display with a different resolution, the output route will be scaled up or down to the new display size. This means that you could have multiple stages sending to an output route, and all the relative positions of those stages would stay the same on a display, whatever the resolution of the output display device!

thank you both, SO much!

one question about the scaling -
If i've made the show in a 16:9 ratio, and one of the venues is using a different ratio projector, will qlab squash the output to that ratio? I understand that's obvs not optimal anyway - but just checking that would be how it degrades.

Thanks again!

You have complete control how it would scale on a projector with different output ratio. Just click the edit button in settings/video/output routings and all the options are then available.
