Now, however I can't find this information anywhere on the website. Can anyone direct me to it, please?

QLab's license agreement allows for one license to be installed on up to three computers, with the understanding that one is for the live show, one for a redundant backup, and one for the designer to work off-site, a remote "work from home" or "work from the road" kind of machine.

Instead of making a new post, this one is close enough to my question.  hopefully!  :D

I have a few questions regarding Qlab Licensing.

Bad news first.  I have had a laptop grow wings and fly away.  Is there a way to "deactivate" it's qlab license to put on it's replacement?  IF we have to purchase a new License, how does one get the educational pricing?  Is there a non-profit price?  (Doubt it, but never hurts to ask, right?)

Good news: For another show/group, they upgraded their computer!  If I deactivate their old machine, how can I transfer the license to the new one?  Will the license "appear" as a movable file?

Thanks again!
Chris

This will be best solved directly through QLab support, but in the interest of potentially helping future QLab users, I'll post some answers here:

We can't remotely deauthorize a license - it can only be done from the computer where it's authorized. We may end up disabling the license on this end, so it can't be authorized again, since there was a theft involved. Of course, we'll then replace the license so you can get your work done.

To get educational pricing, write in to us, and we'll help you out.

Since a vast majority of our customers are not for profit theater organizations, there's no additional non-profit discount available. We like to think the non-profit discount is already applied in the cost of a QLab license.

To install a license, you need the original license file. When you purchase a license, that file is emailed to you along with your receipt. As long as you have that email, you have a backup of your license file.

For the parts of this that don't need the group's help, we'll continue this through our help desk. Write in to sup...@figure53.com, and I'll be happy to get your situation sorted out.

Thanks,
luckydave

So does this you can't use all three computers at the same time?

Hi Thanu,

I don’t know that I fully understand the question — the license is more about how they are being used.

If you have a main machine and a backup machine, for example, you’d need to be using both of those at the same time for the backup machine to be useful.

Have I misunderstood your question?

Best,
Chris

I think the question may be along the lines of “can I run three separate shows on three separate computers using the three licenses?” to which the answer is, I guess, yes you can, but that’s not in the spirit of the license, so please don’t. Or something along those lines.
