Hello,
First of all, I would like to thank and congratulate the entire team at Figure 53 for creating such a powerful tool as QLab— honestly, it could easily be called “THE BOSS.” 🤣
I’ve been using QLab for almost 17 years, and it has always made me feel confident and supported. In my experience, it remains the lightest, most stable, and most robust software for running live shows.
Today I would like to share three ideas that could potentially be implemented in future versions of the software. I believe two of them might be relatively simple, while the third would likely require more development.
When the Timeline is enabled, it would be very helpful to have the option to lock layers to prevent accidental movements that could affect the programming of a show.
It would be great if Memos could have a duration.
In Timeline mode, they could be placed at the beginning of an event and extended until the point where something important happens within the group.
For example:
A piano solo
The singer’s entrance
A special cue or moment
This would be extremely useful because it would keep those moments visible in Active Cues on the right side, allowing operators to anticipate important moments and notify the rest of the team ahead of time when something significant is about to happen.
It would be fantastic to have predefined scripts for groups of moving lights, similar to the animation tools available in lighting consoles.
For example, easily generating movements such as:
Elliptical
Linear (left or right)
Mirrored (inward or outward)
Random
Figure-eight (infinity)
These scripts could allow editing parameters such as:
Tilt
Pan
Position
Gobo
Color
etc.
Thank you again, and congratulations for everything you have built.
You truly are the best.
QLab is not only a powerful piece of software — it also gives us peace of mind when running live shows, which is invaluable.
Best regards,
Jorge Vargas

Yes. But the idea is that all events are visible from the beginning. With the counter. With the other options it is very close to the point of the event

Can you use a Wait Cue?Or, place a Memo Cue at the point of the event (like a Pro Tools marker), then you get a countdown to it in the Active Cues list?RichOn 13 Mar 2026, at 15:10, JV <jo...@simplicitylab.co> wrote:2. Memo Duration
