Good morning, QLab users. I have a brief announcement about the Q-Widget from Widgeteering Studios.

I am grateful to this group, and to Figure53, for tolerating my very occasional update posts. I do keep these kinds of posts to an absolute minimum - this post in particular may give many of you an opportunity to own a Q-Widget at a much reduced price...

We are celebrating four years of the Q-Widget. This group is where we started, and as a result of this group, we've been able to produce nearly 1000 Q-Widget remotes and have had the pleasure of helping QLab users in more than 300 cities and 25 countries with their shows. Thank you all - and thank you Figure53 - for being so gracious to us.

1. CELEBRATION - The price of the Q-Widget began at $349 four years ago. A short while in, due to sales volume, we were able to reduce the price to $299. Now, we're able to lower the price again to $249. This will be the new regular price. As a part of our 4-year anniversary celebration, we have a coupon available for $50 off the new selling price, making the price of the Q-Widget only $199. This is a limited time offer, expiring this Sunday, May 1. The only "catch" is that because of this promotion, we have WAY oversold our inventory (again). It looks like the wait this time around is going to be approximately six weeks for more stock. If you can wait the six weeks, the coupon code is "1604ygrp".

2. NEW DRIVERLESS FIRMWARE - We have just released a MIDI Mode firmware for the Q-Widget. If you wish to run the Q-Widget as a MIDI device (over USB) rather than as a Native Mode device using a driver, the new firmware will allow you to do that.

3. NEW UPDATER - We have also just released a Mac version of the firmware updater. No need for a PC to update firmware anymore.

4. COMING SOON - Lastly, coming in the next release cycle, is a firmware update for Native Mode (QLab) users and MIDI Mode users which will give you the ability to turn off the LEDs on the remote for use when low lighting is required - this will be huge for many of our users.

I thank you all again for the past four years!

Best regards,

Chris Monaghan

So many of our users have asked to dim the LEDs. The best we can offer in the existing hardware is to turn the LEDs off. This will be a great feature for many users, I'm sure.

I have been running shows with a black cloth over my widget. I am very much looking forward to getting full function of the scroll wheel back as the cloth prevents me from scrolling through more than a few cues at a time. Will you be posting on here when the update is available?

Thanks!!

Absolutely. I'll be sure to post here, and it will also be on our social media sites.

As the Widgeteering Studios website is down - is there any chance to get the MIDI mode firmware and the Mac firmware updater anywhere?

Here's the MIDI v1.1 firmware, thanks to Jason Fallon on the QLab Users Facebook group for posting his copy.

I've also uploaded the QLab native USB driver in case anyone wants to use this functionality with QLab 3.
