Hi, I'm a bit new to QLab and can't seem to figure out the right search to find what I'm looking for.

In a show I'm building, there is a sound effect that is played many times throughout the show. It is often immediately followed by another audio track, but this second track is different each time. What I would like to do is have each occurrence of the repeated cue be linked to a "main version" so that I can adjust things like the duration and levels for the main version and have the changes be made to all occurrences.

I've tried using start cues combined with an auto-follow, but the start cue itself has no duration so it must have the correct post-wait entered so that the next cue doesn't start playing until the cue triggered by the start cue has finished. This is fine, except that it means that changing the duration of the repeated cue would necessitate going to each instance of the start cue and adjusting the post-wait.

Is there a way to either create such a link between cues or to have the start cue have a duration that is equal to the duration of the cue it's targeting? If not, what is the preferred method for handling a situation like this?

Thanks so much for the help,
Rylan

As in the attached  screen shot and Video

In the main cue list put your Start cue for the repeated cue (in my demo an electric bell) followed by the audio you want to autofollow but do not link them.

In the repeated cue list is the audio cue the start cues target auto-following to a start cue for the main cue list.
