I have a group of audio songs as preshow music that is played before show start. At 15, 10 and 5 minute calls a preshow announcement must play. I have a second group to fade the preshow music, play preshow announcement and then fade preshow music back up at the end of the announcement. This works alright unless the preshow music changes between songs while the preshow announcement is playing. If the preshow music changes songs during the announcement the new song comes in at a non faded level then fades up even louder when the announcement ends. I've tried a fade group to fade all songs individually up and down but still doesn't help. Any ideas?

Kevin.

Hi Kevin,

Fades can only target cues that are either running or loaded, so to make a fade work on a group of cues like this, you’ll need to make sure they’re loaded before you run the fade. You can do this by setting the preshow music group to auto-load, which will preload all the cues in it, provided they’re part of a continuous sequence.

Thanks for using QLab, and have an awesome weekend!

Hi guys. I'm having a similar but different problem. I have my house music in a group called "Playlist", in a cue list called "House Music." (All cues in the rest of this problem target the group "Playlist".)

I have a play cue that starts the music, when the band changeover starts. My next cue is a (relative) fade down cue (to INF), autofollowed by a pause cue. Great. Works.

At the end of the show, I'd like to resume the music. So I reverse it - a play cue autocontinued by a fade up cue (to 0).

The problem is that, while the track resumes playback, the volume never fades up. In researching, I found this post, and I have applied the auto-load to both the group and the audio tracks inside it. But still doesn't work. I changed my two fades to absolute, and that didn't work either. I have also made sure that everything is targeting the same group (at one point something was targeting the cuelist instead).

This should be pretty basic, and I consider myself an advanced user.  Am I pulling a stupid? Thanks!

You are performing a relative fade on the playlist.

If you fade it to -60 instead of inf before pausing, to restore you would need a relative level of +60

Ah, Mic, once again you come to the rescue! Of course - I started going down that road but I had not completed all of the necessary changes. Thank you!
