Struggling to get the BCF2000 recognised in Qlab....

When connecting the BCF2000 to the MAc, can I use the USB connection,
or do I have to use a MIDI port connection? Will Qlab recognise Midi
over USB?

I would be very grateful if anybody could suggest the steps necessary
to install the BCF on the MAC, and then connect it to Qlab? Very new
to apple...

Thanks

Any form that MIDI gets into the computer will be recognized. (Naturally, since Macs don't have "normal" MIDI ports, it will be coming in either via USB, FireWire, or the network.)

One way to make sure that MIDI is getting in at all is the free MIDI Monitor tool:

http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/

I'm not familiar with this piece of hardware, so can't myself suggest tips on setting that external component up.

Cheers,
Chris

I'm sorry to say that I found the BCF to be hopeless for pretty much anything and dumped mine fairly soon after buying it. Luckily, it was a Ebay acquisition and disposal, so I didn't lose that much.

Anyway, you need to make sure it has the latest firmware installed, connect it via USB and then see if it's recognised as a MIDI device in the Audio/MIDI control panel. If it's not there, then try again with MIDI cables.

Most of the info you need is here:

Hello,
i just tried the BCF2000 and works just fine with qlab.

It works like that:
The BCF2000 is conected via usb to the mac and is started as a logic
controle (please look in the manual how to do that)
Turn the BCF on and then start Qlab.
in the Qlab prefences you have to make the connections in the midi page.
Then you can go to the Remote Controle Page and make shure that "use
midi controles" is on.
Now you can press "capture" on the function you want to have and press
then a key on the BCF2000 where you want the function to be.

That´s it.
I made some screenshots for you

cheers

i second this assessment: if the BCF is put into one of it's special modes like HUI emulation or logic control or whatever, then it's actually easier to deal with.

f***ing behringer, man... sigh.

Hi-

A quick mailing list meta-question. I've switched to the daily digest format. But I sometimes get multiple emails in a day (like just now). Is there a setting I need to toggle, or is the "daily" part of daily digest more of a "kinda daily"? :)

Thanks

Good question -- the Mailman list is a kind of weird thing.

To get a truly daily digest, I'd suggest putting your MailMan subscription on no delivery, and using the Google version of the list to get *their* version of the daily digest.

In other words, you'll be signed up to both, but only get the digest from the Google version. (And since you're signed up for both, you'll still be able to post.)

To clarify, this part is not necessary. These connections only apply to outgoing MIDI messages.

If you want it to run straight through USB, you need to make sure it's set to one of the U operating modes, not an S(tandalone) mode.

To do that, hold EDIT, press STORE, and then let go of both. With your top left rotary encoder, you can cycle through the 8 different operating modes (see more in your manual).

Then, indeed, checkout what exactly comes through via the afore mentiones MIDIMonitor :).

Plus, when you're done, press EXIT. I forgot, mea culpa...

Forgot to say - if it's useful, the QLab workspace can be found at

I've attached logs for QLab and OSX for the machine that showed this bug and provoked Rich's initial question. I wasn't present or operating the show myself, but from what I've gathered the Main system appeared to be firing multiple audio cues (not always consecutive cues either), at which point the operator switched to the Backup system and continued the rest of the show. By the time it came to powering down, the Main computer was found to have crashed.

This is a show programmed in 2.3.3 and which contains various audio formats generally with large files sizes.

Also, the double-go was set to 1s.

It's interesting that the problem occurred on the Main machine but not the Backup...

I know I am new to this list, but is there any particular reason why
people keep hijacking conversations and changing the subject - it
makes it a bit confusing when going back and trying to see if there
are new comments... The is the second time I have had this happen -
and I have only posted twice...

In any case - back to the BCF2000...

Thomas - thank you for your screenshots - it was good of you to take
the time to prepare them.

However, I am not even at that stage yet.

I plugged the bcf2000 into the usb port, set the mode as suggested
above, but snoize midi monitor shows absolutely nothing. every time I
move a control on the device, the midi activity leds flash, but on
midiman I get nothing.

I am running a MacBook pro, OSX 10.6 with all the latest updates
applied.

When I run the Audio MIDI app in the system utilities, it does not
show the BCF, and in QLAB it does not list is available for patching.

I tried the BCF on both the Mackie and HUI emulation - and teh display
on the BCF changes to show the selected mode..

I also tried a different USB cable.

Would anybody have any suggestions as to how to troubleshoot this?

Many thanks
