Changing MacBook display brightness causing video output issues

I've noticed an odd bug that whenever I change the brightness on my Mac (F1, F2) while video is being projected to an external display through QLab, the resolution flickers and switches. This only happens while using QLab.

MacBook Pro M2 Max

MacOS Sequoia 15.6.1

QLab 5.5.3

Upon further review, the issue only happens when both After Effects and QLab are running at the same time. I had NDI video preview turned on too and turned this off to see if that was causing the issue which didn't make a difference.
