I'm looking for a way to do a light effect from QLab to LXConsole. I need a "pulsing" light. Something that emulate the light in a car when you ride. Light that comes in and out randomly. I imagine that something would be possible with QLab an LX Console. Using curves somewhere? Any idea?

What type of LXConsole?

LXConsole is a software lighting controller for Mac.

You could make a variety of different cues in LX console and fire them periodically from a Fire Random Child group in QLab.

Yes, LXConsole is the software that i'm talking about.
Using some multiples cues is a way to go but i think i remember seeing a post talking  about a way to control LXConsole using fade curves. Something like the curve in the midi cues. Is that possible?

Not knowing anything about LXConsole it didn't take long to find this page: http://lx.claudeheintzdesign.com/lxConsole_help/setup_midi.html. It appears you can set MIDI control change messages to control channel levels, so then you would make MIDI Cues with fades enabled in QLab to move lighting levels up and down.

Last time I did any lighting – 20 years ago – this would have been called a "chase" and even the most basic lighting desk could program a chase… Perhaps that's too simple a thing to achieve in a virtual lighting desk these days?

LXConsole is a GREAT PRODUCT. Once you get it up and running you will see it's incredble power.

Joshua's idea to Fire Random Child group in QLab to LXConsole is the ticket.

There is a great forum for LXConsole at http://www.macluxpro.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=7
