Qlab - Ableton Syncing

Hi Guys!

I'm trying to find a way to sync ableton and Qlab. I would like the following to happen:

For a live show I want to trigger multitrack audio with Ableton (using keypoints, and having the laptop with the keyboard player)

I want those 'keypoints' to trigger sync'ed video in Qlab. (The laptop using Qlab could be the same laptop but would best be a different laptop.)

Simply put, I would like Qlab to follow Ableton. ...Press play in ableton, which instantly triggers the sync'ed video in Qlab (on a different machine).

You could just send a midi command at those keypoints to QLab using
'trigger' or more elegantly use time code. I'm pretty sure Ableton can
send timecode as it can be used to set music to video.

Just tested it out... Live can only act as a slave regarding MTC.

It's dead easy to trigger QLab with a midi command from Live though, of
course. Make a midi track alongside the audio and send the data directly
to the bus you want it to send to. Then just let Qlab listen to that
particular midi data. I've made two files (QLab3 and Live9) as examples
if you're interested, but it's basic stuff.

I'd be really interested in these files if you can throw them my way! Do you need to run MIDI pipe in order to send midi between the two programs?

OS X has a built-in virtual MIDI bus (IAC):
