macOS 27 Golden Gate

Hello friends

Yesterday, Apple released macOS 27 Golden Gate, as well as the “27” versions of all their operating systems for all their platforms.

We at Figure 53 enthusiastically recommend that you should not update any Macs that you rely on for anything show-critical until at least version 27.1. Cheekily, don’t update your Mac until the version number matches the calendar year.

While we are not aware of any specific problem with the 27 OS releases, we have found over the years that there are often subtle changes which take a while to learn about.

So please, do not update yet if QLab compatibility is your major concern. And for goodness’ sake, definitely do not update any computer that is currently or about to be in a show.

Always a great moment of ritual and nostalgia to get the friendly warning ;)... On that note - I am still on Sequoia on all my machines, any benefits/caveats to go to Tahoe? I guess both from a general experience with the OS, as well as specifically QLab performance and stability?

I am running at the moment from 2019 Intel MacBook Pro to M1 MacBook Pro to M2 Mac Studio, so I understand it might not be a one-size fits all (and probably wise to leave the Intel job on Sequoia)...
