Hi,

I am reworking the way I get my guitar signal to our Behringer XR18 mixer.  That mixer connects to my MacBook, which runs QLab, through a USB cable, and we are able to send prerecorded wave files to the mixer from QLab using Audio Cues.  Works great.

I used to run my live guitar sounds from a Line 6 POD HD500 through USB into Apple’s MainStage for processing, and then from there out to the mixer via USB.  We are now removing MainStage entirely and offloading all of my live guitar sounds to a Line 6 Helix, which also connects via USB.  I was hoping to send the live sound from the guitar through USB into QLab, which would then route it to the mixer.  In other words, the QLab audio input and output would be different devices.

Yesterday, I tried to do this and realized I didn’t know how.  It was comical, because I went into it believing I knew how to do it, then quickly realized I didn’t.

Is there a way to make this happen using QLab as the intermediary between Helix live sounds and Behringer XR18 mixer?

Also, is there a way to have that connection be open for the duration of the QLab session?  I ask because we have our show (a Bee Gees tribute band) set up such that each song is contained within a Group Cue that runs all the cues necessary for that one song, such as backing tracks, patch changes on external devices, etc.  I would not want the audio of my live guitar to stop between songs, but rather to persist for the entire show.

Thanks for any advice.

I'm assuming that the Line 6 Helix just shows up as an audio device. The website says 8in + 8out device with remapping.

You can use a Microphone cue to send the inputs to your outputs. Just add a mic cue into your list and set all of your routings in the details of the cue.

If you want this cue to be live all the time, just keep it out of your groups and trigger it before the show.

You can use fade cues to change the levels of the channels as you desire, just as you would with an audio cue.

Depending on your setup, you MIGHT run into some latency issues, but it's fairly unlikely that they will be any significant delay.

If it only shows up as an input device, or two separate devices for input and output, you will need to create an "Aggregate device" in "Audio Midi Setup" (have a search for this, there's plenty of info about it)

Hope that helps.

It does help, and I appreciate it.  Thanks!
