Running QLab 5.4.9 on MacBook Air M3

Last night MacOS updated to Sequoia 15.4.

Now, as soon as I connect an NDI Studio Monitor (from a Windows PC) to the QLab NDI output, QLab crashes!

Running the same show on a MacBook Air M4 seems to work OK. here at home.  Have not tested in the theater.

Right now I'm in panic mode trying to get this to work as we have a show tonight.

We recently ran into this ourselves and have been trying to discover what’s happening. It appears to be one of these maddening Sequoia networking bugs.

While we don’t yet have a full solution or even understand what is happening, it appears that you can avoid it by logging out and then logging back in before launching QLab.

Here are some additional raw debugging notes one of my colleagues took when hunting the problem:

Of note - this seems to only affect installing a new build of QLab after a previous one was installed. If I install 5.4.9 on a new user account, I don't get the problem. But if I install and run 5.4.8 on a new user (no problem), then download and install 5.4.9, 5.4.9 will close as above (until the user logs out and back in).

Also:

I tried launching QLab from Terminal (e.g. % /Applications/QLab.app/Contents/MacOS/QLab) to see if anything printed out to stdout that might be helpful from libndi. And... it doesn't close if I launch QLab from Terminal.

Sharing those here in case any of it is helpful while you’re under a time crunch, although again, the basic workaround at the moment seems to be just logging out and then logging back in.

Also, I can verify that the start from Terminal workaround DOES work fine.

I have to ask, is there a known way of disabling this network filtering if you disable SIP?  I know It's nuclear and impractical, but might be necessary in some cases where machines can't be downgraded.

Thanks,
Alexander
