Black screen on Video Cue fire

So I'm new to Qlab so forgive me for being a noob. Whenever I put a
video cue in the workspace and fire it, the screen goes black--no
music plays so its not indicating that its actually playing the file.
And I have to esc in order to return back to the working screen.

I do have a video license, and I've tested both video and jpeg images
with the same result. I've checked my screen assignments and its
correct. My opacity is at 100%. Also audio in MP3s work fine in the
cues. The video is in the correct codec and I'm using a Macbook with
dual core and 1 gb ram. I know that its not beefy, but it should do
the job for simple video playback...but hardware is another issue.

Any ideas? I'm sure its a simple setting. Thanks ya'll.

did you fix this yet ?? sounds like the video itself is either bad or incompatible. 

also -- the main screen goes dark only if you don't have a second screen plugged in 

because/and/or/if/etc --- the video cue is assigned to go to the main screen ...

It ended up being the computer itself.  Some setting regarding video and image playback We had to switch it out and it fixed it.
