Hi all,

I am new to QLab and am in need of taking cues I have created and burning them to a CD for a presentation. I can only bring a CD and not a computer so I cannot bring QLab with me. Can anyone help me out with how to make this happen?

Thanks,

Peggy Mead-Finizio

Hi Peggy,

Welcome to the list!

To expand on the other answer a bit, while QLab does not have a built-in way to record the audio output to a file, you can do so by using an application like https://rogueamoeba.com/audiohijack/ which can record audio from other applications. This way you can play your QLab file “manually”, and while doing so record it.  Then you can take the recorded files and burn those to a CD.

Best,
Chris

Hi Peggy,
You could also install Soundflower, which is an internal audio routing program, select that as an output and record into whatever you like - Audacity is pretty handy for that sort of thing.
Cheers,
Ivan

Others may disagree, but I think at present Soundflower, although the core of the software survives and is occasionally updated, is practically obsolete, apart from use by highly technical users that might have a specific need for it.

Rogue Amoebas 2 products are excellent

Audio Hijack is the easiest to understand and use and can record directly in the App.

Loopback is slightly more complicated but is best for complex inter application audio routing.

But I think it is well looking at Source Elements

Source Elements Source Nexus Range is brilliant and Source Elements are a serious grown up broadcast  and post production services provider with a claimed 10000 studios interconnected with it’s software.

There is a FREE version which is just an audio driver, which  will appear in your Audio devices list in QLab and in any other core audio program e.g QuickTime Player, and just works. It’s multichannel too. (You need recording software that can use different input and output devices though )

The Basic and Pro versions are expensive, but add AAX plugins, so can record from virtually any program directly into ProTools. The Pro version will give you 24 tracks at 96kHz. and has 2 instances A and B

Basic and Pro are available on  15 day trials

(If you use ProTools check out the trials of Source VC and Source Talkback for iPhone monitor and talkback remotes for your studio.)

Also worth looking at Dante Via for inter-application routing, especially if you bundle it with DVS. Wish I’d bought that instead of Loopback…
