Is it possible in the middle of a show to let a performer on stage to hit go as though he were controlling a traditional powerpoint presentation with a clicker for 30 or 40 video cues, and then ignore the clicker for the rest of the show?

What equipment will I need to do this?

Thanks!

Get a Honeywell Power Presenter. Set a hotkey trigger on those 40 cues and configure the remote to send the hotkey keystroke. Instructions for programming the remote come with it and can probably be found on their site.

Very cool.

Does any presenter remote create a keystroke-like event that QLab can see or is the Honeywell Power Presenter different?

Thanks!

We once did a show where the performers used TouchOSC on phones and tablets hidden in different props around the stage. The performers were the techs.

Put those 40 cues in their own cuelist - assign your input (presenter, garage door opener hitting a Midi Solutions F8 or FS1) to trigger that list. distarm the list preshow, arm in in a cue close to the sequence, disarm when the sequence is over.

Not all PowerPoint clickers let you specify what keystrokes they send. Most don't. The Power Presenter is an exception.

If you use Quickeys

You can turn ANY device (mouse, remote, etc) into a "Device" then assign anything to trigger from there. This has been my main work horse for remote control and it has never failed me.

If you decide to use bluetooth as the connection method get one of these

it extends your range to 1 kilometer!!!! No software required.
