Hi all,
I don't know if this has a really easy or complicated solution, but I can't seem to find a way to achieve this.
I'm running Qlab 4.
I'm preparing subtitles for a (long) show. Something around 800 or 1000 text cues. Each cue has a very short fade that goes with it (0.20s). When preparing the session, my intention is to take a "text+fade" and just copy-paste it like 1000 times. Then I'd go and fill each cue with its corresponding text. My problem is, when I copy-paste a cue it (obviously) has the same name as the one I copied it from. Is there a way to automatically rename all of my cues so their name is the same as their Q number? Or something that would help me navigate the session in order to know where I am (other than Q numbers).
Also, if anyone has any ideas on how to prepare subtitles in a more practical way, all help will be appreciated.
Thank you very much!!

I'm fiddling around with the script but I'm very bad at it... somebody help??
Thank you again!

Hi Marc,

Welcome to the list!

Hm, I’m a bit confused by the question — by default, a Text cue is named whatever text is inside the cue. If you have different text inside each cue, the name will therefore be different for each cue. The only exception to this would be if you manually set a specific name for the cue, but you can restore the default name by just deleting the custom name.

This strikes me as better than setting the name to be the same as the number, which is already visible in the cue list anyway.

Have I misunderstood the setup?

Best,
Chris

I missed this thread before but personally I would use glypheo for the captions and bring them into qlab with a camera cue over syphon

Thank you all!
So apparently my (stupid) problem is that I set a custom name to the first text cue in the first place, I should have left it by default. Anyway, thanks Richard for the Glypheo suggestion, will give that a try!! It looks awesome.

To reset cues to the default names

Select the cues you want to change (If  you want to select all text cues select all the cues and then in the basics tab of the inspector select only text cues)  and then trigger a network cue with this OSC message

/cue/selected/name ""
